Summer Decorating With Teal

Welcome back, sweet friends! Today, I’m sharing summer decorating ideas using the color teal. Teal is one of those colors that make me smile, it’s amazing what colors can do to change your mood. As soon as I started decorating with teal, I immediately felt happier, brighter, and excited to continue decorating.

Before I start, I want to thank my sweet friend Krista of The Happy Housie for hosting this Summer Seasonal Simplicity Home Tours. Today is the last line up for the home tours, but you can still catch up on all the summer inspiration at the end of this post. If you are coming from Sheila’s blog, welcome to my little coastal haven.

Now, let’s talk summer and teal!

Summers in Japan are very hot and humid so staying cool can be challenging. On my last post, I talked about how the colors of the ocean are simply magical here. On a clear sunny day, you can see endless colors of blues and greens across the ocean… it’s truly breathtaking. Teal is one of those colors that you rarely see and when you do, doesn’t it make you smile? It sure makes me smile. Juliet’s bedroom was inspired by the beautiful teal ocean color. If you are new to my blog, I’m a military spouse living in military base housing in Japan. Now that you’re a little caught up, decorating for us military folk is challenging, but we make due with what we have an enjoy the experience. Juliet’s room was one of those challenges and you can read all about here!

My goal was to keep every room cohesive, each room in our house has at least one color that ties in with the rest of the house. Teal is not that color, but you can still spot pops of it in our home.

In Juliet’s room I started with the lovely teal curtains I found in Nitori, the color spoke to me and I was immediately in love. Then came the straw hats and seashells before we knew it we had transformed her small bedroom into a coastal haven.

Juliet’s room was my inspiration to bring more of the teal into our dining area this summer. I bought the same teal color curtains for our small dining area, the curtains truly transformed the look and feel of this space. I use to change my decor a lot… every season to be exact, but now I’m really happy with what I have and how it looks so I only switch a few things around. In this case, I just added new curtains and a new teal scarf.

I also took Wilson the whale out to add a bit more teal goodness to our summer dining hutch.
