R e c i p e β€’ Italian Hot Chocolate is a mug full of creamy deliciously thick Hot Chocolate, made with real chocolate and milk, the ultimate Comfort Food.

A cup of Italian hot chocolate for my hot Italian man πŸ˜‚ I may be biased on which hot cocoa drink is better because I was born in Mexico, but I believe that Mexican hot chocolate is the most delicious drink you will ever have πŸ˜† Italian hot chocolate comes a close second! πŸ˜‰If you have never had thick, creamy hot chocolate, this is your calling to make some! And don’t skip out on the homemade whipped cream! Enjoy this delicious comfort drink.

*To all my fellow military friends stationed in Italy, make sure you use authentic Italian chocolate! πŸ«πŸ˜‹

Italian Hot Chocolate:
πŸŽ„3.5 ounces Dark Chocolate (good quality) (chopped πŸŽ„into small pieces)
πŸŽ„2 tablespoons sugar
πŸŽ„1 cup + 1 tablespoon milk (2% or whole milk/divided)
πŸŽ„1 teaspoon cornstarch

Homemade Whipped Cream:
πŸŽ„2 Tbsp granulated sugar
πŸŽ„1 tsp vanilla extract
πŸŽ„1 cup heavy cream or heavy whipping cream, chilled

Instructions:
β€’In a small bowl whisk until smooth, 1/4 cup milk and cornstarch set aside.

β€’Sift the cocoa into a medium bowl then add the sugar and whisk together, set aside.

β€’In a small/medium pot heat 3/4 cups + 1 tablespoon milk until boiling, reduce heat to low, start whisking and add the milk/cornstarch mixture then add the cocoa mixture slowly while continually whisking until smooth.

β€’Then add the chocolate pieces and whisk continuously for approximately 3 minutes. Serve immediately.

For Whipped Cream:
Add the sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream to a glass or metal bowl. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer* to whip the cream on high until medium or stiff peaks form (depending on your preference, about 2-3 minutes). Stop the mixer occasionally to test the stiffness of the peaks, to avoid over whipping.

Enjoy!
