Decorative Tissue Paper Tea Cups

We are starting to get a little glimpse of spring here in Japan. The cherry blossom trees are in full bloom and they look so magical while you walk through the park. In celebration of spring I want to share this easy DIY that involves two of my favorite things.. tea cups and tissue paper!

Here’s a fun story on how I fell in love with tea cups and crafting. Six years ago I attended a craft event in southern California, this event was open to anyone and it was around the time we had just moved so I was I new in town and didn’t know anyone… so I went solo to this event. As soon as I walked in I was magically transported into a world of gorgeous table settings, tea cups, fresh flowers, swag bags, crafting goodies and so much more! It was one of the most beautiful events I’ve attended and I met some pretty amazing and talented ladies there, that are now good friends of mine. We laughed, craft, and had tea all day, something I will always cherish. We all had different sets of tea cup and these tea cups were so beautiful from the design to their vibrant colors and golden details.. let’s just say I was in tea time heaven. From that day on I wanted to start collecting tea cups of my own, the experience was priceless and till this day I haven’t attended anything remotely close to the Creative Tea Time event.

These may not be your drinking tea cups but you can use them as pretty herb and flower planters… just in time for spring!

Supplies Needed:
Mug
Tissue paper
ModPodge
Brush
Steps:
1. Selec your desired tissue paper then tear off small pieces. (Tip: tear off a larger piece of tissue paper and work around that piece as a guide for your other smaller pieces).
2. With the brush start applying ModPodge on mug and place tissue paper pieces on it.
3. Paint a final layer of ModPodge over the top. Let dry and that’s it!

I hope you get the chance to make this super easy spring DIY!

XOXO,

Norma
