M e m o r i a l D a y is the day to remember with gratitude and pride all those who served and died for our country and our freedom. May your day be filled with memories and peace.

"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it." — Unknown

My husband lost his best friend, his brother, on April 7, 2011. Both deployed multiple times together, and they fought in combat during the battle for Fallujah in November 2004. I remember my husband coming home early from work one day and saying that Jason was training for another deployment and he was leaving soon. We took him out to lunch. We ate, shared funny stories, laughed, and said our goodbyes. I remember my husband saying, "Take care, man and come home safe." Little did we know that would be the last time we would see Jason. Jason A. Rogers, you will always be loved and remembered.

My sweet friend Maria @movingwiththemilitary explains this day of respect and remembrance beautifully:

Memorial Day.

A day that holds a profound significance for my military family and me.

It is a moment when we pause, not only to remember, but to honor and embrace the immeasurable sacrifice of those who have selflessly given their lives in service to our nation.

For us, Memorial Day is not just another holiday or a chance to enjoy a long weekend.

It is a solemn reminder of the deep-rooted commitment, unwavering bravery, and ultimate devotion displayed by our fallen heroes.

These courageous men and women, bound by duty, honor, and love for their country, stood at the forefront, protecting the ideals and freedoms we hold dear.

On this hallowed day, we gather at memorials and cemeteries, placing flags, flowers and coins upon the resting places of our fallen heroes.

We come together not only to mourn, but to celebrate their lives, embracing the memories that sustain us and sharing stories that keep their spirits alive.

🙏 May we never forget the fallen, may we cherish their memories, and may we strive to be worthy of the sacrifice they made.

S p r i n g • "Not all those who wander are lost."
—J. R. R. Tolkien
.
🌼 One of the most important things I believe in teaching children is to put importance on experiences rather than things. Every year when birthdays and Christmas come around I ask my family to give my kids an experience, rather than just an expensive toy. Experiences create memories and are much more valuable to children than any toy you can give them.

Things don’t last long, and easily get replaced. Kids remember experiences, the lead up to what you are going to do, the excitement in planning and the happiness they felt afterwards. Memories can then be revisited over time through conversations and photos. Children will treasure those memories for a lifetime. 💛
