A Simple Beach Picnic Setting

Summer is around the corner, and that means it’s PCS season. This is when military families move to a new duty station and start a new chapter in their lives. I’m starting to feel the PCS’ing blues, and I remember the first time when my husband told me that it was going to be hard leaving Okinawa, Japan after three years. I thought to myself, “yeah, sure… it’s just another home I get to decorate” but if I’m being honest to myself Okinawa has been a dream. The people, the culture, the food, the landscape, and the beautiful ocean that surrounds us, I can’t get enough of.

Since our home is looking somewhat bare due to selling and getting rid of things before the movers come and start packing things up, I decided to share a simple beach picnic setting with you. The water is usually a perfect shade of turquoise but lately, we’ve been having rain and overcast days. With all the moving prep going on typhoon season begins next month this will be our last summer and typhoon experience in Okinawa, Japan.

Before I start sharing my beach picnic setting I wanted to thank my sweet friend Alicia at A Burst of Beautiful for organizing this lovely blog hop! You will find more summer inspiration ideas at the end of this blog post.

Summer may be the season of barbecues for some people, but for many of us, the warmer weather means one thing: it’s time to go to the beach. Why spend a gorgeous afternoon sitting in a buggy backyard eating grilled burgers when you could spend it lounging in the sand near the water? If you want to include delicious food into your plans, then it’s simple — have a beach picnic.

I went very simple, monkey pod plates, chopsticks, wine glasses, candles, and seashells… that’s it! That’s all you need to create a peaceful setting.

Since I have tons of seashells and coral, I decided to use them as chopstick holders! It’s an inexpensive way to add a natural element to your table setting.

Don’t try to be too over-the-top, or you’ll end up with a super huge mess on your hands. Just have fun and enjoy the sunset.

Be sure to check these beautiful summer tablescapes below! I know they will help inspire your summer entertaining this year!

xoxo, Norma
