Paint Me Pink

Fall Home Tour 2018

September 19, 2018 Fall, Home, Home Tour

Welcome back to our little coastal cottage! If you didn’t know this by now, I love Autumn!! Autumn is my favorite season, and I always get incredibly excited when it comes around. There’s something about this season that speaks to me.

I love the smell of rain when Summer transforms into Autumn; I love the crisp mornings and frost on the grass as Autumn turns into Winter; I love the fresh grass and sense of newness as Winter turns to Spring, and I love the warm smell of suncream and sea salt at Spring becomes Summer.

But for me, Autumn holds a special place in my heart. I was so lucky to grow up in an area where we had all four seasons, and each one of them was so beautiful in their own way. I remember jogging through an ever ending trail of trees with golden leaves. Pinecones and leaves covered the ground, and I remember the glistening water of the lake. The smells of pumpkin spice filled the inside of our home, and I can’t forget all the delicious baked goods my sister always made.

Now, I’m living in a beautiful little island and Autumn is not the same. With tropical weather year around it can get difficult to get into the spirit, but I’m ready for change and to make our home feel like the Autumn memories I had growing up in Lake Tahoe, CA.

It’s funny to think that I have fond memories of pinecones lol these pinecones were gathered by my mom and shipped all the way to Japan! I will always have a little piece of home no matter where I go.

I went real simple in the living room a few pinecones, miniature plastic pumpkins, and candle to set the Autumn mood.

If we had real pumpkins, I would decorate with them, but sadly our local grocery store won’t get them until mid-October.

I added more pinecones to our dining area with these darling corn husk pumpkins I made this year; you can check out the tutorial here.

As much as I love traditional Autumn colors, I’m truly enjoying decorating with blues!

I hope you enjoyed our non-traditional Autumn color home tour!

Today, I’m also joining some amazing friends of mine on another Seasonal Simplicity Fall Home Tours! Make sure to check out today’s line-up, and the best part is that there will be new Fall homes to check out all this week. Hi Brenda! It’s so nice to meet you and Thank you so much for stopping by, it truly means a lot to me 🙂 It’s my second year decorating with blue tones and I truly love the calmness it brings during autumn and the pinecones give it that extra rustic charm. I hope you enjoy decorating with pinecones and blues! Thank you so much again for your lovely comment and Happy Fall decorating! xoxo -Norma

Just dropping in, you have a lovely home and i think blue is a great color for Fall, when that cooler weather rolls in the skies get very blue. I love all your pumpkins, i really don’t care that much for orange. Thanks for sharing.

Love it! Blue is my favourite all year round, and I love how you’ve added in the natural elements that give it that warmth of Autumn feel. So glad you could join in this tour, Norma!
